Teacher Professional Development Day Reinforces IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning

On November 12th, Léman welcomed experts in the field of Approaches to Teaching and Learning from Ashbury College in Ottawa, Canada, for a half-day curriculum planning workshop. The workshop included a whole-faculty general information session and two breakout sessions, with teachers meeting in groups by school division. The workshop providers guided hands-on collaborative work on curriculum planning to help further apply the most current research on best practice to the school's written curriculum. This included explicit work on concept and inquiry-based learning and development of student-centered, skills-based activities drawing on work from research by Harvard University's Project Zero. The workshop was coordinated by the Director of IB Programming to further enhance the IB Philosophy of education at Léman from Early Childhood through 12th Grade.
